Skincare Series: Sleeping Beauty

Wednesday, October 05, 2016

Hey beautifully complex people, it’s Tiffany new Lead Contributor at the Five Es. I’m excited to be sharing my first post with you and think it’s only proper that I begin with sleep. Your girl loves to sleep, long and well. So let’s talk about it!

Shower fresh, silk pyjamas, new bedsheets, the last traces of makeup cleansed - I am ready for my much needed beauty sleep. However, I like to go the extra mile to sleep beautifully by tending to my skin. It makes such a difference to how I look and feel by the morning. Here’s my routine and go-to products.
Skin type: Combination
Concerns: dryness, oiliness, spots, blemishes, sensitivity
Bioderma Sébium Sérum | £12.70
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré | £12.95
Once every two nights I use the Bioderma Sébium Sérum for exfoliation. It’s a purifying serum that uses glycolic acid to correct imperfections, soften my skin, and biologically reduce the amount of sebum in my oilier pores. What I love about this product is how gently it exfoliates, with combination skin it’s sometimes hard to find a product strong enough to tackle the oil (it does!) without being harsh on the sensitive parts of your skin (it isn’t!) The gel formula feels soothing and a little goes a long way.
Tip: Cleanse and tone as normal. Apply strictly at night as glycolic acid is photosensitive. Avoid the eye area. Moisturise after 2 minutes. | Shop it here
Having exfoliated with serum, moisturising is key. With dryness being one of my skin concerns and especially as the colder months approach I prefer a thicker, nourishing product. I reach for Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré as it’s rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins and leaves my skin well nourished. My skin is left plump, smooth and supply and I can’t get enough.
Tip: This product is also a multitasker, for extra dry skin use it as a hydrating mask. Or use it as a post-shave moisturiser. | Shop it here
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion | £13.00
After exfoliating and moisturising it’s treatment time. We all break out from time to time and this tiny bottle always saves me. The moment I feel a pimple appearing on my face I dip a cotton bud into this rosy solution, sleep on it and pimple be gone! When I shared it on our Instagram story recently so many of you agreed that it’s a bottle of pink magic. To demystify a little, the reason it works so well is this: the salicylic acid clears up unsightly whiteheads overnight whilst calamine soothes the surrounding skin, making it suitable for even the most sensitive of skin types. | Shop it here
Tip: At treatment time, you might have different skin concerns; no spots or pimples? Brilliant! Everyone could benefit from Esmé’s Skincare Series: Eyes post though. Do read.
Topicrem Ultra-Moisturising Body Milk | £25.35 (x2 pack)
Once finished I never neglect my body. I moisturise all over with Topicrem Ultra-Moisturising Body Milk. It penetrates instantly without creating an oily residue and leaves the skin soft and glowing. Esmé, who has a very dry skin type, absolutely loves using it whenever she stays over - thankfully this product comes in a pack of two so can easily be shared with family or friends to make it cost effective. | Shop it here
So there we have it, you can sleep your way to beautiful, soft, and dewy skin! Feel free to share your products with me in the comments below and tell me what you think about night time routines. Are they worth the effort?
