Meditations: Impermanence and Wellbeing

Tuesday, August 09, 2016

Impermanence is a fact of life. The flower which colours the world with its beauty, shrivels someday. Ideas that once thrived are now but a faint memory. Joy, learning, creativity, suffering, all vigorous parts of the human experience eventually pass; for we die every day. And so to live and be well, we must remain sensitive to impermanence. We must move through life with an evenness of spirit, centring wellbeing not on that which we cannot control, the goodness or badness of our moments. But taking care each day to meditate upon and make peace with their impermanence.

Whilst strolling this afternoon, I stopped here to contemplate how the space before me had changed and what I felt in response to that. Broadly, I began thinking about impermanence as a key to wellbeing. Above this photo is the product of the conversation I had in my head and now I open the conversation up to you. What are you thoughts on impermanence?
