Dressing how I want to feel

Friday, August 07, 2015

Sometimes putting on soft colours can be the little change needed to uplift my spirits. With an all white ensemble I certainly walk with a little more gaiety in my step. Think Cher Horowitz in her Calvin Klein dress.

You see, dressing in colours other than my usual blacks and greys gives me a sense of outward control in my world full of internal chaos. So after a particularly difficult bout in my life as a depressive I decided to change what I could. I made myself "a little temporary magic" à la Blanche Dubois and spent the following week in soft colours - my spirit did indeed begin to feel lighter, just that little bit. Fake it 'til you make it, hey?
Here is one such perfect outfit and some other garms I wore that week. Cute, right?

Spaghetti Strap Cami: & Other Stories
MOTO White Leigh Jeans from 'Tall': TOPSHOP
Sandals: Russell & Bromley
2129 Aviators: Dolce & Gabbana Eyewear
Watch in 'Peach and Rose Gold': The Fifth Watches
Love Bracelets in 'Pink Gold': Cartier
